Kata Tournament and BBQ

for TB

Competitors at the last kata tournament.

Kata tournament

Sunday 26th May

Entries for the kata tournament are due soon - get your name down to compete so that we can make up the teams.

This time, the tournament will be at Newtown Dojo - Newtown North PS. The official address is 50 Carillon Ave, but don't even think of going in or parking from that side. Details for parking are in the attached map.

We'll also have drinks and a BBQ there - so make sure you bring some BBQ money, and a gold coin donation from all spectators - so that we can continue raising funds.

Federal Election BBQ

Saturday May 18th

Another election, another BBQ. We did quite well with the BBQ last time, and we're going to do it again!

Please contact Anthony at anthony@ifk-australia or at 0414 512 361 if you'd like to help out. The more people, the less time you need to spend there.

Fund Raising

As you know, in addition to the BBQ, we have other fundraising initiatives.

It's you, the students, who will benefit from these efforts in some form or other e.g. international and localt tournament or camp attendance subsidies or bringing out more instructors from overseas.

A big shout-out to Zara from KKC who, of her own initiative, raised $50 in a garage sale for donation to IFK Australia! Thanks, Zara.

Here's an update on how you've helped already.

Easter Hamper Raffle Winner

The Hamper Raffle raised $183. In case you didn't catch it on Instagram or Facebook, we did the draw for the hamper at KKC Karate dojo just before Easter, and I personally delivered it to the winner - Luke O, from KKC dojo. .

Watch the video of the draw, and the see the winner, on the IFK Australia  Facebook or Instagram.

Chocolate Easter Eggs

We've managed to raise several $1000 with everyone's efforts. Well done and thank you - it was gargantuan task, and some of you excelled by selling multiple boxes, and others by selling their box for much more than the basic cost.

But that barely covers a couple of airfares at peak times, and we want to be able to send teams of people over. So, we're going to need more, and we're going to have to do more.

Bottles and cans

Keep those bottles and cans coming! You're all doing a great job - fundraising, recycling, and keeping them out of the rubbish tips and environement!

Camp survey

If you haven't yet filled in the camp survey about this year's January camp with Shihan David, please do so. It will help us in planning how we can improve your training.

If you came to the camp - click here

If you didn't - click here

(Yes, I checked the links this time :-)

We're still looking for a few sponsors or donations for the BIG raffle we're going to hold later this year. These could be fancy dinners e.g. for a family or for two, or appliances e.g. TV or computer, or services such as personal make-over or a garden re-design, or anything else you might be able to think of.

Please contact Sensei Jenny ( if you can help.

If you made it this far, don't forget to sign up for the tournament!

Keep training hard!
